About JUPEB
Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB)
The Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) is a national examinations body approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria in December 2013. It was formally established in April 2014 by a consortium of ten (10) partnering universities led by the University of Lagos.
The board has the responsibility of conducting common and standard examinations for the candidates, who have been exposed to a minimum of one-year approved courses in the different Universities' Foundation and/or Diploma Programmes and are seeking Direct Entry admissions into University courses at the 200 Level in Nigerian and partnering foreign universities.
he goal of JUPEB program is to facilitate Direct Entry admissions into various University courses globally by conducting credible examinations for candidates taught on a qualitative and well-balanced curriculum.
JUPEB provides another platform for providing access to tertiary education. Thousands of students apply and sit for UTME yearly but only a few are successful in securing admission into Nigeria universities. Most of these candidates, who fail to secure admission, reapply in subsequent years thereby worsening the admission burden in Nigerian Universities. The worst dilemma is that UTME result is only valid for one (1) year, as against the JUPEB result which has no expiry date.
This is particularly why JUPEB Advanced Level programme is highly recommended. Other Advanced level programmes, apart from JUPEB include NAGCE, IJMB, CAMBRIDGE, among others.
The JUPEB Advanced Level programme runs for a period of two semesters, after which a successful JUPEB student graduates into 200 level in the University through direct entry. All courses are available for JUPEB programme.
Candidates seeking admission into the JUPEB programme must possess a minimum of 5 Credits in relevant o'level subjects from WAEC, NECO or NABTEB in not more than two sittings. Awaiting result can also apply for the JUPEB programme.
Lectures on JUPEB programme are guided by the approved JUPEB syllabus and the contents of the JUPEB syllabus cover University 100 level syllabus and above, which must be taught within a period of two semesters.
The entire JUPEB examination process is moderated by the JUPEB headquaters, University of Lagos together with JAMB-approved moderators at the approved JUPEB affiliated institutions.
SELECTION OF JUPEB SUBJECT COMBINATION
Candidates for the JUPEB Advanced Level Examination should refer to the current JAMB brochure for appropriate JUPEB subject combinations leading to the proposed course of study in the University. Each JUPEB candidate shall enroll and sit for only three (3) subjects for the final JUPEB examination.
